The Framingham Health Department Advises that People Stay Vigilant Against COVID-19 as they Gather for Indoor Events

Framingham, MA – Yesterday, the Framingham Health Department released the number of new COVID COVID-19 cases – 430 – and announced three new fatalities related to the virus since December 15. The data report, also distributed by the Health Department yesterday, shows the age group most affected by this surge is 0-19 years, with 306 new cases in the last 14 days.Like the rest of the State, Framingham is in a surge.With School Vacation, there are several planned sporting and social events. The Framingham Health Department reminds residents to be aware that indoor events are high-risk environments for transmitting COVID-19, particularly when transmission rates are high. Residents should know that if they become positive for COVID-19 or are identified as a close contact, they will need to complete isolation or quarantine, including missed school days after the school vacation.  The Framingham Health Department continues to remind people to follow the best practices against COVID-19, especially for those enjoying indoor gatherings, celebrating the holidays, or participating in sporting or other social events:

  • Get Vaccinated or Boosted
  • Wear a mask
  • Get tested if you believe you've been exposed
  • Social Distance
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces and 
  • Wash your hands in warm soapy water for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
