Congresswoman Presents Hero's Wife With 10 Medals

Carolyn Sullivan received the Bronze Star, the Prisoner of War Medal, and 8 other medals on behalf of her late husband.

During the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, Bernard Sullivan was captured. The Framingham resident was imprisoned in a German POW camp. He eventually returned home and died in 1990, at the age of 69.

Yesterday during the Town of Framingham’s Memorial Day program, Sullivan’s wife Carolyn accepted 10 medals, including the Bronze Star and Prisoner of War Medal from Congresswoman Katherine Clark.

The Bronze Star is awarded to a member of the armed services, after Pearl Harbor, who distinguishes himself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight.
