Dr. Barry Ruthfield, 73, of Framingham died on Friday, June 12.
Ruthfield was the Ashland Superintendent of Schools for 22 years.
He was an active member and past president of Temple Beth Sholom in Framingham.

Ruthfield was co-president of the MetroWest Jewish Day School in Framingham.
He was Director of Faculty Placement at Framingham State University’s International Educational Center.

He was the loving husband of Ruthann Ruthfield for 44 years, who was a reading recovery teacher at Barbieri Elementary in Framingham for many years
Dr. Ruthfield was the proud father of Mark and his wife Lori and Steven and cherished grandfather of Josh and Zach.
He was devoted brother of Richard Ruthfield.
Dr. Ruthfield was the son of the late Madeline and Abraham Ruthfield of Wakefield.
Services were at Temple Beth Sholom on Pamela Road in Framingham on Monday, June 15. Burial was at Framingham-Natick Jewish Cemetery in Natick.
Following burial, a Shiva was held at his residence until 5 p.m. and continuing 7-9 p.m.
Shiva continues on Tuesday, June 16 & Wednesday, June 17 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
