EDITOR'S PICKS: 5 Things To Do in Framingham Today - May 3
Book launch at Framingham History Center, 5K at McCarthy Elementary and opening day for girls fastpitch softball and drop into Danforth Art.

Below are my picks for things to do in Framingham today, May 3:
1. Today is the annual McCarthy/Fuller 5k & Fun Run/Walk.
The event, sponsored by Middlesex Savings Bank, is a fundraiser. More than 300 individuals have participated in past 5Ks. The proceeds of this event enabled McCarthy PTO to purchase 25 Chromebooks for McCarthy Elementary for the past two years.
Same day registration is available the day of the race. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m.

The 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m.There is a half-mile fun run for younger children at 10:15 a.m.
If you have already registered online or via the schools, bib pickup is between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

- 5K run/walk: Age 14 and older $25
- Half-Mile fun run: $10 per person
- Family maximum of $60
The PTO will have mini trampolines and an obstacle course for the kids at the race site too.
2. Meet artist and illustrator Jennifer Goldfinger, creator of a cat-loving boy Felix and many other wonderful characters, at Danforth Art today.
The Framingham museum’s Drop Into Art takes place from 2 pm to 4 p.m. today and includes gallery activities and studio art-making for all ages. Drop Into Art is a free museum program for families on the first Sunday of the month. This month’s theme is Let’s Party. There is an artist talk with Goldfinger at 4 p.m.
3. The Framingham History Center will hold a book launch for Framingham Town Historian Fred Wallace’s newest book Pushing for Cushing today at Edgell Memorial Library at 2 p.m. Wallace will talk and then sign copies of his book.
4. Today is opening day for the Framingham girls fastpitch softball league.
All teams in grades K-8 will be playing at the Walsh/Dunning complex. Games start at 8:15 a.m. and ends after 5 p.m. with the senior league.
Wally the Green Monster is expected to stop by around 9:45 a.m.
The League will have a bouncy house, a dunk tank, and police and fire vehicles for families all day. All families are welcome to stop by and learn more about the League.
5. Free classical piano concert at the main Framingham Library today at 3 p.m.
Pianist Sylvia Berry will perform the works of Mozart, Haydn, Soler, and Beethoven on her Viennese piano in the Costin room. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The concert is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Framingham Library, the Metro Credit Union, and Morton J. Shuman, attorney-at-law.
