3. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Annually, Framingham Veterans Services mark the graves of U.S. Veterans with an American Flag, said Framingham Veterans Agent Peter Harvell. This year 4,500 flags will be placed in Framingham’s cemeteries by volunteers.
Today from 9 a.m. to noon the Framingham Veterans Agent is looking for volunteers to place 2,500 flags in Edgell Grove Cemetery. (Volunteers should arrive no later than 9:30 a.m.)
Edgell Grove is a Historical Landmark because of its unique design, explained Harvell. As a result of the design, we need a lot of youth with enthusiasm and boundless energy to tackle this large cemetery, said Harvell.
4: ADULT PROM: Steal those jelly bracelets back from the kids, and find your banana clip and tease your hair high as Barbieri Elementary will host its first-ever Flashback Parent Prom on Saturday night May 16 at Samba West. The event starts at 7 p.m. with appetizers (until 8:30 p.m.) and then dance the night away to the best of ‘80s and ‘90s music. Formal attire not required but there will be prizes for the Prom Queen and Prom King, who are dressed in clothes from 80s or 90s.
The event is adults only, no children. Parents from other schools are invited to attend. Tickets are $30 at the door.
5. BOOK SALE: Friends of the Framingham Public Library will hold its monthly book sale today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members may shop early at 9;30 a.m. at the main Framingham Library.
