Elaine (Pritchard) Allchin, 92, Retired Bookkeeper

Calling hours will be held today, April 1 at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home in Framingham.

Elaine (Pritchard) Allchin, a Framingham resident for 23 years, died peacefully at her home on Monday March 30, 2015. She was 92.

Allchin is survived by her son Keith Allchin and his wife Pat Walker of Framingham, her son James (Jimmy) and his wife Catherine of Seattle, WA, and her four grandchildren: Braden, Adelyn, Aidan and Julian. She also leaves behind her niece Barbara (Pritchard) Ingraham and her husband Gary Ingraham and her nephew Dennis Pritchard and his wife Becky of Michigan.

Born on June 24, 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI, she was the daughter of the late Rena and Lynn Pritchard and was pre-deceased by her older brother Russell Pritchard.

She graduated from high school in 1940 and met her future husband, Clair Edward Allchin, while working at Doehler-Jarvis Corp. in Grand Rapids. They married in 1942 and lived in several locations in the US when Clair was serving in the US Army.

After he was held in prisoner of war camps in Europe, Clair returned to Grand Rapids. In 1955, the family moved to Florida and began farming, growing produce and oranges. Clair passed away in Winter Haven FL. in 1970. After her husband’s death, she lived in Dallas and Atlanta to be near her son Jimmy, then moved to Massachusetts in 1984, where both of her sons then lived. She worked as a bookkeeper until retiring in 1991.

She moved to Framingham in 1992. She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was very active in her church. A devoted animal lover, she had cats and dogs all her life. Family and friends will remember her quick wit and loving nature.

Calling hours will be held today,April 1, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
