UPDATED: Flyers Finish Fourth in Swim Sectionals
Sophomore Kara McCurdy wins the 500-yard freestyle, and finishes second in the 200-yard freestyle event.

The Framingham High girls swim and dive team finished fourth, missing third by less than a point, at the MIAA Division 1 South Section meet yesterday, Nov. 14.
Bishop Feehan easily won the South Sectional Championships with 350 points. A total of 18 swim teams competed on Saturday at MIT.
Brookline finished second with 267.5 points. Newton North captured third place with 235.5 points and Framingham finished fourth with 235 points.

Editorβs Note: Swimmers needed a qualifying time to compete in the 12 events in the sectional meet.
Next up for the team, under head coach Mike Foley, is the state meet at Harvard on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Framingham Sophomore Kara McCurdy was crowded the 500-yard freestyle champion at the South Sectionals. She won the distance event in 5:16.77 minutes.
The 500 was one of Framinghamβs best events, placing four swimmers in the top 10.
Sophomore Julie Long finished 6th in the 500 at 5:29.92, Natalie Burkett finished 9th in 5:32.30 minutes, and senior Haley McCurdy finished 10th in 5:34.92, dropping more than 10 seconds off her personal best time this season.
Kara McCurdy finished second in the 200-yard freestyle event for Framingham in 1:58.39 minutes.
Marshfield freshman Olivia Mozoki won the race in a time of 1:56.60.
Framingham also placed three other swimmers in the 200 event. Long finished 12th, Burkett 13th and senior Devon Tice was 14th.
Framingham also had multiple divers place on Saturday.
Sophomore Halia Bower placed third in diving, behind Hannah Phelan of Bishop Feehan and freshman Kate Mullin of Wellesely.
Divers Elena Jacob (9th), Stephanie Fawell (10th) and Kalena Chin (13th) also scored points for Framingham.
The Framingham 200-yard relay team finished fourth in 1:45.21 seconds. On the relay was Kara McCurdy, Devon Tice, Isabella Tersoni and Emily Osborne.
Osborne, a senior, finished 7th overall in the sprint event the 50-yard freestyle.
Wellesley senior Lily Gribbel won the race in 23.90 seconds. Osborneβs time was 25.89 seconds.
Osborne also placed 10th in the 100-yard freestyle event for Framingham. Senior Devon Tice finished 11th to earn points for the team.
Bishop Feehan freshman Annie Patriarca won the race in 54.42 seconds. Osborneβs time was 57.19 seconds, which means she will compete in the state meet next week.Β Framingham will have several swimmers at the state meet on Sunday.
Framingham also placed two swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke event.
Senior Aja Matzker finished 11th in 1:04.98 seconds and junior Mary Zschau finished 15th in 1:06.03 seconds
Ursuline Academy sophomore Taylor Eck finished first in 1:01 seconds even.
Framingham junior Alessandra Miranda finished 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.64 seconds, a personal best time for her. Newton North sophomore Serena Ly won the event in 1:07.52 seconds.
Senior Haley McCurdy was the only Flyer to place in the 200 individual medley race. She finished 13th in 2:25.08 seconds.
The Flyers finished sixth in the final event of the meet, the 400-yard relay. On the relay team were both McCurdy sisters, Tice and Tersoni. Their time was 3:49.58, a personal best this season.
The Framingham medley relay team finished 8th overall yesterday. On the relay was Matzker (backstroke), Miranda (breaststroke), Haley McCurdy (butterfly), and Osborne. Their time was 1:58.80
