Flyers Leonard and Cunniff Help Rams Earn First Victory of the Season

Framingham State University's women's lacrosse team defeated Mitchell College 19-4 Wednesday.

Six Framingham State University women’s lacrosse players scored double-digit goals in route to a 19-4 victory over Mitchell College at the Maple Street field on Wednesday evening.

With the win the Rams move to 1-1 and the Mariners fall to 0-3.

Sophomore Kristen Hoggins scored the first of her three goals to break a 2-2 tie early in the first half.

The Rams offense then caught fire scoring 10 unanswered goals in the remainder of the 1st frame.

The Rams then outscored Mariners 6-2 in the second stanza.

Freshman Morghan Cassella scored a game high 4 goals.

Hoggins and junior Stephanie Leonard, a former Framingham High Flyer, each scored 3 goals.

Sophomore Jessica Graham netted two goals; and Claryssa Cunniff, another Framingham product, scored a pair on the day for the Rams.

Sophomore Taylor Dansereau made 17 saves for Mitchell College, while freshman Kelsey Morgan made 4 saves for the Rams.

Framingham State returns to action on Saturday, March 28, when they travel to Salem State to open up Conference play at 6 p.m.
