When Connor McCarthy’s penalty kick sailed into the right corner of the net Thursday afternoon, it ended the season for the Framingham High boys soccer team.

Lincoln-Sudbury defeated the Flyers 3-2 (4-3 penalty kicks) in the MIAA Division 1 North tournament Thursday afternoon in Sudbury.

The Flyers, the #9 seed in the tournament, finish their season with a record of 8-3-7.

Lincoln-Sudbury, the #8 seed, is now 10-3-4, and will take on the winner of #1 East Boston vs Everett in a quarterfinal game.

The Flyers and the Warriors were tied 1-1 at the half, tied 2-2 after regulation, and tied 2-2 after overtime.

Thus, the game was decided by penalty kicks.

Matheus Moreira and Eric Adjei gave Framingham a 2-0 edge on kicks.

Lincoln Sudbury’s Rory Bordiuk then cut the lead with his goal.

It was tied 3-3 with the two final kickers.

Flyer Renato Dias missed, but McCarthy got one past Framingham goalie Dylan O’Brien for the victory.

Warriors goalie Robert Hurstak had a solid game defensively and offensively. He scored on one of the penalty kicks and earlier in the game Hurstak’s free kick gave Lincoln-Sudbury a goal.
