Flyers Soar Past Mustangs for 8th Victory of Season
The Framingham High swim and dive team defeated Norwood High Tuesday night.

Winning the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay events back-to-back, in state qualifying times, is what secured the Framingham High swim and dive team its eighth win of the season Tuesday.
Junior Isabella Tersoni won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:46.75 minutes. The Flyers swept that distance event with freshman Emily Rogers finishing second and senior Alessandra Miranda finishing third.
The Flyers defeated the Mustangs of Norwood 96-85 at Keefe Technical pool last night.

Next up for the Framingham High team is an away meet against Brookline at 4 p.m. They are 8-3-1 on the season.
In the ninth of 12 events of the meet, the Flyers won the 200-yard relay. On the winning team were swimmers Tersoni, Katherine Castro, Aja Matzker and Haley McCurdy.

Sophomore Halia Bower won the diving event for the Flyers. She finished more than 50 points ahead of Emerson Kerns in second place from Norwood. Framinghamβs Stephanie Fawell finished third.
Many of the Framingham divers also swam on the three 200-yard freestyle relay teams last night. Divers Catherine Turner, Elana Jacob, Bower, and Fawell finished fourth. (Editorβs Note: Only the top 3 relay teams earn points in a meet. Six teams swim per heat.)
Other winners for Framingham were:
- Senior Emily Osborne in the 100-yard freestyle
- Senior Haley McCurdy in the 200-yard freestyle
- Sophomore Kara McCurdy in the 100-yard backstroke
In the first event of the night, the Flyers out touched Norwood in the 200-yard medley relay. On the winning team was Olivia Nelson, Miranda, Matzker and Tersoni. Framingham also finished third in the relay with Hannah Rose, Lizzy Tallino, Kara McCurdy and Devon Tice.
In the spring event, Norwoodβs Austin Reardon won in 26.72 seconds. Framingham finished second, third, and fourth behind the male swimmer.
Editorβs note: Boys are allowed to compete on girls swim teams if the high school does not have a boys team in the winter season.
Kara McCurdy was second, Tallino third, and Tice fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Aidan Mulligan won for Norwood in 2:34.47 minutes. Framingham finished second and third with Castro and Miranda.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Mulligan again won for Norwood. Framingham took third, fourth and fifth place, with swimmers Rose, Rachel Buck and sophomore Emily Canty.
Brendan Hurley won the breaststroke event for Norwood, with teammate Benjamin Wong having the third fastest time in the 100-yard event. Framighamβs Haley McCurdy and sophomore Nelson had the second and fourth fastest times.
Seniors Natalie Burkett and Anna Parra finished third and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke to earn points for the Flyers. Also earning points was sophomore Julia Long in the 200-yard freestyle and Castro in the 100-yard freestyle.
Norwood won the final event of the night, the 400-yard freestyle, but the Flyers finished second. On the relay team was Tersoni, freshman Isabella Petroni, Haley McCurdy, and Kara McCurdy.
