Framingham Assistant Principal Leaving To Become Art Teacher in District
One of the elementary school assistant principals is leaving an administrative post to teach in the Framingham Public Schools.

Brophy Elementary School Assistant Principal Sara Cummins is leaving her post as the school’s first assistant principal to become an art teacher in the Framingham Public Schools.
A letter went home to parents yesterday, April 17, which was the start of school vacation week.
Cummins was offered an art teacher position in the Framingham district for the 2015-16 school year.

“Over the last few months I have been reflecting on my job as assistant principal at Brophy and realized what I love the most about my job is working directly with students,” wrote Cummins.
“Though it was a very difficult decision to make ... I decided to apply for a teaching position,” she wrote to parents. “I did so with the hopes of working more directly with students throughout the day and inspiring students through teaching art.”

Cummins ended her letter writing “ I will truly miss Brophy, the dedicated staff here, and the students.”
Assistant principals in the Framingham Public School district make between $85,000 and $100,000 a year.
Cummins was hired in the summer of 2012. Her first year as assistant principal was the 2012-13 school year.
She was an art teacher at both Cameron Middle and Brophy Elementary prior to becoming an administrator.
Dunning Elementary and Brophy Elementary are now in need of an assistant principal.
Dunning’s Assistant principal was recently promoted to principal earlier this month, as its Principal Kim Taylor will become the Principal at King Elementary in the 201516 school year.
In the district, assistant principals are responsible for:
DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING:
1. Developing, determining the appropriateness, implementing, and monitoring the instructional program.
2. Revising, implementing, and evaluating curriculum.
3. Participating on school-wide and district-wide committees for advancement of the educational program.
STUDENT SUPERVISION:
1. Monitors and interacts with students and their families regarding academic, social, and emotional issues.
2. Developing and administering policies on student behavior and assisting teachers with serious discipline problems.
3. Participating in the team evaluation process.
4. Coordinate student activity programs, field trips, and other school activities as necessary.
STAFF SUPEVISION:
1. Supervising, directing, and evaluating staff members.
2. Coordinating staff development activities.
3. Participating with staff in school problem solving issues.
