Framingham Gets Half Million From Eversource Over Polluted Land
Eversource settled with Framingham for failing to clean up property it owns on the south side.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Framingham's getting a payment of $500,000 from Eversource in a settlement that it did not clean up property that was polluted in the south side, according to reports.
Framingham's Board of Selectmen voted on Tuesday to accept the offer and also clean up 350 Irving St., which is still polluted. The former gas manufacturing plant, purchased by Eversource in 2008, is contaminated.

In the MassDEP's most recent update in February of this year, its third that addresses an initiative to improve environmental quality in south Framingham, the state agency states that the MassDEP's efforts are "focused on ensuring the assessment and cleanup of several large, historic waste sites in South Framingham."

a. The now-closed General Chemical facility on Leland Street;
b. The Mary Dennison Park on Beaver Street, which was constructed on a former dump used by the Town of
Framingham and Dennison Manufacturing Company; and,
c. The former Commonwealth Gas manufactured gas plant (MGP) site located at 350 Irving St.
