Framingham High Hoping To Make Season 7 of High School Quiz Show
The Flyers participated in Super Sunday last weekend at WGBH studios, with 139 other high schools hoping to make the cut of the top 16.

Last Sunday, 140 high schools from across Massachusetts, including Framingham High, competed for a chance to participate on season seven of High School Quiz Showβ’, the Emmy Award- and Parentsβ Choice Award-winning program.
During βSuper Sunday,β each academic team of four students convened at WGBH Studios in Brighton to take an identical oral quiz of 100 questions based on the Massachusetts curriculum and current events.

Of the 140 teams that registered to compete on βSuper Sundayβ this year, 27 schools are participating for the first time.
βWe are proud to welcome an ever-increasing number of schools to participate in the seventh season of High School Quiz Show,β said Executive Producer Hillary Wells, in a press release. βWGBH continues to provide a platform for Massachusettsβ high school academic stars who year after year inspire us with their motivation, enthusiasm and commitment, as well as their seemingly insatiable thirst for knowledge.β

The top 16 teams will advance to compete in the televised, single-elimination, bracketed academic tournament that will determine a state champion.
Framingham High made the cut of the top 16 teams last year and is hoping to do so again this season.
High School Quiz Show is produced and broadcast by WGBH and hosted by Billy Costa.
The season will culminate with a Governorβs Cup Challenge, when WGBHβs High School Quiz Show state champion team meets New Hampshire Public Televisionβs (NHPTV) Granite State Challenge winner for the fourth annual interstate quiz show face-off. This seasonβs Governorβs Cup Challenge will be hosted by NHPTV.
This season, High School Quiz Show will celebrate its 100th episode with a special alumni edition, featuring former competitors recruited from past seasons, to air on Saturday, February 20 at 6 p.m.on WGBH 2.
High School Quiz Show begins taping at WGBH in January in front of a studio audience.
The seventh season will premiere Saturday, February 6 at 6pm on WGBH 2.
High School Quiz Show is endorsed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education and the Massachusetts PTA. Questions on the show are aligned with the Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects that include literature, history, science and math, as well as current events and general knowledge. Major funding for High School Quiz Show is provided by Safety Insurance. Additional funding is provided by Massachusetts Teachers Association, XFINITY from Comcast, Harvard Summer School Secondary School Program and University and Subaru of New England.
