Framingham Superintendent of Schools said he will meet with Framingham High staff today and unveil his plan for the principal post.

Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott is expected to either name interim Framingham High Associate Principal Elyse Torbert as the high school’s new principal today or announce he will conduct a search to replace Framingham High Principal Adam Goldberg this afternoon, April 1.

Scott told Framingham Patch he will meet with Framingham High teachers and staff today, at the end of the school day, and unveil his decision. After that, he will issue a memo to parents and a press release to the community.

Goldberg, submitted his resignation in March, after having been on medical leave since December. Scott told the School Committee, last month, Goldberg ‘reluctantly’ gave his resignation. Goldberg, will be paid through June 30.

In March, Scott met with parents and teachers, on how to replace Goldberg.

The two most popular options discussed were:

  • Appoint Torbert as the new principal
  • Conduct a search for a new principal.

Torbert, had been a vice principal at Framingham High, until she applied for the Framingham High principal post, after Michael Welch announced he was leaving to become the superintendent of the Dedham Public Schools.

Torbert and Goldberg were named finalists by Scott in June 2014.

Goldberg was named principal.

Torbert was named to the newly-created position of Associate Principal at Framingham High in August 2014.

In January, when Goldberg was still on medical leave, Scott hired former Newton Superintendent of Schools Irwin Blumer to be a mentor to Torbert. Goldberg, was not given a paid mentor by the Framingham Public Schools.

In late January, Framingham high educators demanded more information on Goldberg’s leave.

Goldberg, who lives in Framingham, made a public statement on his medical leave in January, in which he indicated he would be back at Framingham High in March. Instead, he tendered his resignation on March 3.

Today’s meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, but was rescheduled as Scott was attending the dedication of the new Kennedy Institute in Boston.
