Flag Day, which is celebrated on June 14 annually, was officially established by proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 and was codified by an Act of Congress on August 3, 1949. Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress.
“We are privileged to have the One Framingham committee, which has dedicated their time to organize this wonderful celebration," said Mayor Charles Sisitsky in a statement. "It is imperative that we continue to celebrate our flag, which holds within it our shared American values and commitment to freedom. I encourage all in our community to come out and celebrate the history of our beautiful American flag.”
