Framingham Homeowners Expect Tax Bill To Increase By $114
Selectmen voted Tuesday night to continue with a split tax rate for the Town of Framingham.

The average homewoner in Framingham can expect to see their tax bill increase by $114 in 2016.
Selectmen unanimously voted to split the Town of Framinghamβs tax rate,a nd shift more of the burden on the industrial and commercial class by 1.71.
That was the same rate for this year, where the average single family homeowner, saw their tax bill rise by about $30.

The good news is that the new tax rate is lower than last year. The tax rate will be $17.38 per $1,000 value.
The bad news, depending on how you view it, is that property values for single family homes increased on average by 4.5 percent in Framingham, said Framingham Chief Assessor Will Naser.

The average single family home value increased from $334,074 to $349,000.
Naser in a presentation to Selectmen said if the tax rate was one rate for all in town, the average tax bill for a single family homewoner would be $7,752.
βAnd that is why we have a split tax rate,β said Selectman Jason Smith.
With the unanimous vote of Selectmen Tuesday night, the average single family tax bill is estimated at $6,066.
The commercial and industrial rate will now be $37.98 per $1,000 value. Commercial values in Framingham increased by 3.6 percent but industrial values in Framingham, decreased by 2.4 percent, said Naser.
Framingham Selectmen had set a goal to increase the average single family homewonerβs tax bill by less than $100.
While this yearβs increase would be more than $100, the two year increase is less than $150.
