FRAMINGHAM, MA — With Framingham under a blizzard warning, city officials are taking measures to make snow cleanup easier.

A citywide parking ban goes into effect at 6 a.m. on Saturday — that means no parking on major arteries where signs are posted. The ban is on top of the odd and even year parking restrictions in Framingham.

"Residents are encouraged to seek off-street parking and not interfere with snow clearing operations. Any vehicle obstructing snow clearing operations will be towed.," the city said in a news release.

The city also announced a series of municipal closures on Saturday: both libraries will be closed on Saturday, and the recycling center will be closed all weekend.

The National Weather Service has extended a blizzard warning east to the western border of Middlesex County. That means Framingham could see snow totals around 20 inches, and wind gusts well in excess of 50 mph, according to the latest forecasts.
