Framingham Police To Boost Handicapped Parking Enforcement

Starting Black Friday, Framingham cops will be out in force issuing pricey tickets to handicapped parking law violators.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham police are putting extra officers on handicapped parking patrol during the holiday period. Violators, if caught, will have to pay a $300 ticket.

Police will be working overtime, taking four-hour shifts in the weekends preceding the holidays, according to a Metrowest Daily News report. The campaign will take place from Black Friday to New Year's Day.

The department's assistant safety advisor, Keith Strange, said "We got a lot of compliments from the public when they saw the enforcement, and I think that it’s something very worthwhile," the report says.

The department will use up to $10,000 in the campaign from the Framingham Disability Commission's Handicapped Parking Fine Account. Last year, 61 tickets brought in about $7,000.
