Framingham Resident Gets Good Samaritan Citation For Fire Actions
The fire earlier this month displaced two units and caused damages of $5,000.

FRAMINGHAM, MA–The quick response of a neighbor likely helped everyone get out safely from a building fire in Framingham.
Just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, the Framingham Fire Department was alerted to a fire inside the 15-unit residential building at 85 Georgetown Drive from several 911 calls. Six fire apparatus from the Framingham Fire Department responded and crews quickly extinguished the fire, according to the city. Framingham EMTs treated and transported one person from the apartment who had sustained significant injuries where the fire started.
Many from the building told firefighters that a neighbor had quickly alerted and evacuated all the apartments. That fast-acting response got this tenant a Good Samaritan Citation, but the neighbor wishes to remain anonymous.

Fire Chief Joseph Hicks said in a statement, “The Fire Department is extremely appreciative of the neighbor’s actions to get everyone out of the building, and letting the men and women of the Framingham Fire Department focus on getting in to fight this fire. This fire also emphasizes the importance of every residence having working smoke alarms, as the sounding of the smoke alarm that alerted the neighbor likely prevented further tragedies during this early morning fire.”
Two units had been displaced and property damages were estimated at $5,000.
