Framingham Resident Resigns as State's Parks and Recreation Director

Carol Sanchez was appointed to the position earlier this year by Gov. Charlie Baker.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner resigned this week.

Framingham resident Carol Sanchez was appointed to the position by Governor Charlie Baker in April.

Asistant Secretary Dan Sieger will be acting DCR Commissioner.

Sanchez is co-owner of Sanchez & Santiago, an accounting firm in Marlborough. She had taken a leave of absence from the firm, when she accepted the gubernatorial appointment.

She told Patch she resigned from the state position, as she needs to go back to her β€œCPA firm.”

β€œWe couldn’t sell it for this tax season. We have a buyer,Β but they don’t want it until next tax season. It’s worth quite a bit and my partner was going to shut it down,” said Sanchez.

β€œI thoroughly enjoyed my time at DCR,” said Sanchez, who added. β€œβ€I believe I left DCR in a much better place than when I got there.”
