Framingham School Committee To Vote on Superintendent's Review Tonight
The School Committee awarded Superintendent Stacy Scott a 2.7 rating on a scale of 4 and said he is "proficient." Do You agree?

Tonight, June 23, the Framingham School Committee is expected to officially vote on a review of Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott.
The special School Committee meeting is scheduled for 7:30 at the King School.
Scott was given a rating of “proficient” in a draft review read by School Committee Chair Beverly Hugo.

Hugo read the review at the Committee’s June 16 meeting, but copies were not made available to the public that night.

Overall, Hugo said Scott was making “significant progress” towards the School Committee’s and district’s goals.
“District goals have been reached and even surpassed, in some cases,” said Hugo, last week.
The review was posted on the district’s website on Wednesday afternoon, June 17.
A summary of the review is below:
Assess Progress Towards Goals - best rating is a 5, lowest rating is a 1.
- Professional Practice Goals - rating 2.86 - Significant Progress
- Student Learning Goals - rating 3.28 - Significant Progress
- District Improvement Goals - rating 3 - Proficient
Assess Performance on Standards - best rating is a 4, lowest rating is a 1.
- Instructional Leadership - rating 2.86 - Proficient
- Management and Operations - rating 2.7 - Proficient
- Family and Community Engagement - rating 2.4 - Needs Improvement
- Professional Culture - rating 2.4 - Needs Improvement
Overall Summative Performance - rating 2.7 - Proficient
Rate Impact on Student Learning (based on a 3 point scale) rating 2.7 - Exemplary
Besides the scores, the School Committee identified strengths and needs work statements for Scott.
“Framingham students are excelling,” said Hugo. ”Dr. Scott has had positive ideas and vision for our district. We have an excellent strategic plan to guide Framingham to be a premiere district in the Commonwealth. The executive of this plan has had some great successes and some challenges. As we move forward, the consensus of this committee is that the challenges need to be addressed.”
Scott received a ”needs improvement” in his review, when it came to “professional culture” and family engagement, managing conflict, staff communications and overall communications.
“Dr Scott has strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills,” said Hugo in reading the review last night.
“The quality of online surveys and press releases have been problematic,” said Hugo.
“There have been a few well-publicized issues in regards to public communications,” said Hugo.
“School Committee members and staff have received a great deal of information from online media,” said Hugo.

In this year’s review (2014-15), Scott received scores lower than he did in 2013-14.
In 2013-14, Scott received an overall combined rating of 3.5 out of 4, with three meaning proficient and 4 exemplary.
Scott has Superintendent of the Framingham Public School district since 2012.
