Earlier this year, the school district hired a part-time communications director to improve engagement and to better communicate with parents, employees and community members.
Thus far, we have developed a communications survey, a preliminary strategic communications plan and district communications audit. “Even in the midst of the tough fiscal times, the school district recognizes the need to add resources to our efforts in order to better communicate with stakeholders,” said Superintendent Stacy Scott.
“Given our commitment to effectively communicating with our community, we have decided to make adjustments to the rollout of our communications strategy,” said Dr. Scott.
“Effective immediately, we will place a hold on the position of communications director while we clarify our strategy and increase funding for this position,” continued Superintendent Scott.
After three months, Dr. Scott wants to increase the district’s efforts and close any existing communication gaps that remain.
“We must redefine and enhance the position of the communications director and leverage other resources that we can access. Our parents, employees, and community members deserve to be well informed about our school system,” said Dr. Scott. “During our current budget process, we will work hard to identify funds to augment this position for the coming fiscal year. We will refine our communications plan by taking time to audit our current
internal and external communications.”
While teaching and learning is the core function of the school district, it is clear that Dr. Scott wants to ensure that parents, employees and community members are well informed.
