Framingham State Softball Splits Doubleheader With Trailblazers

The Rams are back in action Tuesday when they host Emmanuel in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

With the split, the Rams are now 6-11 on the season and are 2-2 in the conference, while the Trailblazers move to 4-10 overall and 1-1 in the Conference.

In the opener, the Trailblazers erupted for 10 runs in the top of the first inning including a pair of grand slams from juniors Rachel Quackenbush and Angelica Perfido.

The Trailblazers received five RBI from Quackenbush in the opener at the plate as she also earned the victory in the circle. Quackenbush went five innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Junior Natasha Areseneau took the loss for the Rams going four and two thirds allowing 13 runs, seven earned, on 10 hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Freshmen Anna Dziok and Megan Downing picked up two hits apiece for the Rams in the opener.

The Rams rebounded in game two taking a 1-0 lead in their first at bat of the game on an RBI single from sophomore Kylie Boyle.The Rams extended their lead with three in the fifth on RBI singles from freshman Dayna Marchant sophomore Tiffanie Marsh and freshman Bridget McGrail.

Marsh earned the victory in the circle for the hosts tossing a complete game. Marsh allowing just one unearned run on a single in the sixth inning by Michaela DiNicola. Marsh scatted six hits and did not record a walk or a strikeout.

Amanda Meczywor took the loss for the Trailblazers going four and a third allowing four earned runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
