β€œStudents in Framingham are demonstrating more growth in student learning than students across the state,” said Superintendent Dr. Stacy Scott, in a press release issued on Monday, Nov. 16.

The district is pleased to see a continued upward trend as students in grades three through eight were tested in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), a more rigorous test.

Performance across multiple measures continues to climb slowly and growth continues to be very strong. In English Language Arts (ELA), the district CPI increased 1.2 points from 2014, and the SGP increased two percentile points.

In mathematics, the district CPI increased only slightly by 0.5 points from 2014, and the SGP remained the same. Improvements in student growth rates have been particularly impressive over the last four years.

Student growth in ELA increased 11 percentile points and student growth in math increased nine percentile points. The CPI and SGP are measures that allow educators to compare student results.

The CPI can be used to compare achievement over time, and the SGP is used to measure how well students performed compared to peers statewide.

The PARCC results provide performance and growth measures for students in grades three through eight. When the PARCC Composite Performance Index (CPI) and Student Growth Percentiles (SGP) are combined with MCAS results for the high school and the alternative MCAS tests, Framingham Public Schools continues to demonstrate an upward trend.

Editor’s Note: This is the first year Framingham students have taken the PARCC exam. Patch published a report on results earlier.
