The 7-member elected School Committee has oversight on the school calendar.
The chair of the Committee has said the Committee would take a vote on how to make up snow days after the results of a survey are complete. That vote is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
The survey was announced last Friday, Feb. 27.
The deadline to take the survey is today, March 6, said Scott.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Scott gave the School Committee a preview of the “snow day” survey results thus far.

Scott said while 48 percent of the survey users were in favor of giving up Good Friday (April 3) for a snow day, he said he had “difficulty” recommending that as he has heard from several “pastors” in the community.
In regards to using April vacation days to make up snow days or extending the calendar in June, he said survey respondents were split at 23 percent each.
School Committee member Don Taggart said that just means “everyone will be heard” with the survey but that “everyone will not be satisfied” with the vote.
“No matter what we decide 50 percent will be upset they did not get their way,” said Taggart.
