George 'Skippy" Sullivan, 84
A graduate of Boston College, where he played hockey, he was a longtime educator in the Framingham Schools, teaching 7th grade math.

George Patrick Sullivan, 84, known to all as Skippy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2015 after a short illness surrounded by his family.
He was a lifelong resident of Framingham.
Born on March 17, 1931 to the late Framingham Town Accountant, George Joseph Sullivan and his wife, Eugenia, (Slattery) Sullivan.

Growing up on Dennison Avenue he learned to skate on Gleason Pond and fished in Farm Pond.
He proudly served as an altar boy at St. Stephens Church and attended St. Stephens School.

He graduated from Boston College High School in 1948, where he played baseball, football and hockey. He was a star hockey player and was the captain of the team. He continued to play hockey on the starting line at Boston College and was a member of a winning team.
He graduated with a Masters in Education from Boston College.
From rom there he taught and coached hockey, football and baseball at St. Sebastian’s in Newton.
He was a longtime educator in the Framingham Schools, teaching 7th grade math.
He also coached the Framingham South JV hockey team in the late 60’s early 70’s.
He found pleasure working in his vegetable garden, caring for his geraniums, attending to his woodstove, fixing things around the house, barbequing, quahogging, and especially his Sudoku and crossword puzzles. Skip was known for his story telling and had a love for the Red Sox and all things Boston College.
Sullivan and his wife, Gerry, enjoyed spending time at the ocean together traveling to Bermuda, Florida and especially Cape Cod. He was a parishioner of St. Bridget’s Parish.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Cronin) Sullivan with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; His children include Jennifer S. Nash (William), Judith S. McCarthy (Patrick), Monica S. Phipps (Michael), Timothy F. Sullivan (Tricia) and Kate S. Myers (Joseph). Skippy, known as Papa, loved his 12 grandchildren to the fullest; Alexander, Brian and Jeremiah Nash; Conor, Tom and Maggie McCarthy; Samuel Phipps; Kevin, Kristin and Amanda Sullivan and Austin and Sarah Myers; brother Joseph Sullivan, sisters-in-law Jean Sullivan, Mary-Joan Carson and Judith Traugott. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was the brother of the late Mary T. Sullivan and John Sullivan.
His funeral was Tuesday, August 4 at St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd., Rte 9 @ Framingham Centre. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
