Massachusetts will have no problem getting into the Irish spirit, as the state has the highest percentage of residents with Irish ancestry in the nation. About 21.3 percent of residents claimed Irish ancestry, according to census data.

While everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, how many people in Framingham have some Irish in them every day of the year?

The U.S. Census Bureau reports 16.6 percent of the Framingham population claims Irish ancestry.

Of a total population of 70,448, about 11,696 people in Framingham are Irish.

Plymouth was found to be the most Irish town in the state by WCVB, with 41.9 percent of its population claiming Irish ancestry.

You don’t have to wait until Tuesday, March 17 to appreciate Irish heritage. The entire month of March was named Irish-American Heritage Month by Congress in 1991.
