Members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra performed a free concert of Igor Stravinsky music inside Nevins Hall at the Memorial Building Sunday afternoon in Framingham.
More than 150 individuals attended the performance of L’Histoire du soldat (The Solider’s Tale), which is based on a Russian folk tale (The Runaway Soldier and the Devil) by Alexander Afanasyev. The plot of the suite centers around the Devil trying to capture a solider’s soul.
The violin represents the solider’s soul. Lucia Lin, who debuted with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at age 11 and joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1985, had the lead role in the performance.
