Attendees at SKYBOKX 109’s first-ever craft-acular beer tasting sampled more than 3 dozen beers, from a dozen craft breweries from across the nation, and feasted on all the wings and pizza they could eat, last Thursday night.

The more than 150 attendees also voted for their favorite brew out of the 38 sampled and the winner received a two-month rotation on the restaurant’s 20 tap draft system.

Yesterday, March 2, it was announced that Clown Shoes’ Space Cake brew was the winner.

Clown Shoes Beer, out of Ipswich, had four brews for attendees to try. Sales and Event coordinator Mike Pettengill was hoping Space Cake won, as his image is depicted on the cartoon label as Miracle Mike and dog Bionic being chased by evil laser beam shooting cupcakes and two giant layetr cake mother ships.

Obviously, Clown Shoes has a sense of humor, but the beer is smooth ... and a winner.

Space Cake is a double IPA with citrus hops.

Other craft brewing companies at the event included: Long Trail; Downeast Cider House; Kentucky Ale; Green Flash Brewing Company; Dogfish Head; Blue Point Brewing Company; Jack’s Abby; Mayflower Brewing Company and Bad Martha.

As guests sipped ales, stouts, ciders, and IPA, they could also sample SKYBOKX 109’s wings and pizza. Executive Chef Noah Gagnon and his team produced all the chicken wings and pizza any one could want.

Guests enjoyed Classic Buffalo, Bourbon Glazed and Honey Mustard wings. Plus BBQ chicken pizza, pretzel pizza, sausage, veggie, pepperoni and of course cheese pizza slices all night.
