Since 1907, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has celebrated June 14 as Flag Day. They require every Lodge to celebrate the patriotic day since 1911. It was the fraternal order of the Elks that prompted President Woodrow Wilson to proclam June 14 as Flag Day officially in 1916.
