McCarthy Elementary School's PTO held its first-ever Chili Cook-off and Brownie Bake-off, over the weekend.

McCarthy Elementary School’s PTO held its first-ever Chili Cook-off and Brownie Bake-off, over the weekend.

With almost 100 votes cast, the winner for best chili went to Julia’s Potion, made by a first-grader at the elementary school. Coming in second place was Barney’s Chili.

For best brownie, the winner was the “Bananas for Brownies.”

Attendees to the first-ever fundraiser also tasted a chili made by McCarthy Elementary School Principal Matt Hanlon. Vice Principal Jean Nolan made a brownie for the event. McCarthy Elementary PTO Co-President Amy Catalogna, entered a chili featuring BBQ sauce. The majority of the chili and brownie recipes came from McCarthy families but Framingham photographer Kevin Cummings entered a turkey bacon chili.

Becky Arpino, Samantha Goldenblatt, and Carol Shick organized the event for the PTO.
