Framingham High School Drama Company staged three performances of the musical Pippin last week, under the direction of Chris Brindley and producer Donna Wresinski.

The lead character in the musical is Pippin, one of the sons of Charlemagne from the Middle Ages, but few historical details can be found in the burlesque-style musical. The plot of the musical has a performance troupe, led by a “ringmaster-style” character telling the tale of Pippin, as the young prince searches for the meaning and significance of his life.

Stephen Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics for Pippin and was originally directed and choreographed on Broadway by Bob Fosse. Book is by Roger Hirson. Pippin first appeared on Broadway in 1972.
