Kevin O'Connor Named Interim Director of Framingham Adult ESL Plus

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stacy L. Scott, is relying on homegrown leadership for his next two appointments.

Mikaele Neves has been chosen to be the next leader of the Parent Information Center.

Neves currently serves as the Grants Financial Manager for the Framingham Public School District.

Kevin O’Connor has been named as the Interim Director of the Framingham Adult ESL Plus.

Dr. O’Connor is currently the Associate Director of Adult ESL Plus.

They both will be joining newly hired Executive Director of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Christine Tibor in providing services for families who are new the Framingham Community.

Both leaders have a strong passion for their respective positions, the school community and the Framingham community at large.

Ms. Neves will bring fourteen years of experience in Framingham Public Schools, including three and half years at PIC, as well as her bilingual (Portuguese), technical, analytical, and financial skills to the Parent Information Center. A Framingham High School and Framingham State University graduate, Ms. Neves has worked collaboratively across the school district to develop systems that have enhanced the grants process. Active in the local community, Ms. Neves is very much looking forward to serving the families of Framingham in her new role.

Dr. O’Connor has been working with Framingham Adult ESL Plus since 1996. He holds a Bachelors Degree in English and Education as well as a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics from UMass Boston. He earned his PhD. in Teacher Education from Boston College. Dr. O’Connor began as an ESL Instructor and taught at various levels. When promoted to Coordinator of Assessment and Recruitment in 2000, he supported technology integration, streamlined assessment protocols, and served on numerous DESE task forces and committees. In 2012, he became Associate Director at Framingham Adult ESL Plus. Dr. O’Connor is experienced is all phases of Adult Education administration and will transition smoothly into this new role.
