On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Framingham Girls Cross Country team traveled to Natick in their final meet of the regular season to face one of the team’s biggest rivals.

Since this was the last meet of the regular season, the Flyers were looking to achieve an upset win over Natick who had a record of 4-6.

In what was one of the coldest days of the season the Flyers raced through the picturesque woods course at Elm Bank. Lucy Matzilevich was Framingham’s first finisher with a time of 20:02 (third overall), Isabel Carrasquillo finished second for Framingham (fourth overall), and Ellen Burton finished third for Framingham (ninth overall).

All of the seniors had great times in their final races before the Conference Championship.

Other girls who ran well are junior Faith Daigle (11th), senior Molly Covarrubias (16th), and junior Allison Fortin (19th).

In Cross Country, the places of the top 5 finishers from each team are added to the team’s score and the team with the lower score wins.

Unfortunately, the girls came up short as Natick took the win in this race with a final score of 43-21.

Next, the girls look ahead to the Bay State Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Norwood.

The girls will try to give all the teams they faced earlier this year some competition in this final meet.
