MA To Get More Rain This Weekend, Forecasters Say

Heavy rain is expected starting Saturday night leading into a dreary Sunday, but there's hope — and sun — on the other side of the weekend.

MASSACHUSETTS — While Bay State residents can look forward to an end to the incessant rains of this week starting Friday, there is a bit more rain heading our way before the clouds truly break next week.

National Weather Service officials forecast that most of Saturday will be dry, but Saturday night into Sunday morning could bring rainfall totals of over an inch.

The system will also bring strong, gusty winds to the region, especially Cape Cod and the islands where gusts up to 40 mph are most possible.

Some coastal flooding could be possible on Sunday, officials said.

Forecasters project that precipitation will fall across most of the state throughout the day on Sunday, particularly from midnight to 12 p.m., with percentages tapering off as the day goes on.

Still, there is hope on the horizon.

NWS officials said Friday and most of the day Saturday will bring dry conditions. Next week, however, will actually bring the sun, which accompanies the annual spring forward of daylight saving time.

This comes after a wet stretch from Wednesday to Thursday, which saw much of the state receive over an inch of rain, with some communities seeing over 2 inches fall across the two days.
