Maine Police: Framingham State Graduate Killed By Alleged Drunk Driver

A 23-year-old Framingham State University graduate was killed early Tuesday morning when she was struck by an allegedly drunk driver while walking along a street in Maine, according to police.

York police said an SUV hit the woman walking with her boyfriend in the shoulder area of the street before fleeing the scene.

“Her and her boyfriend were walking along a road, holding hands, and someone came from behind,” Emily’s father, John Zarnoch, told FOX25.

The woman Emily Zarnoch, 23, of Quincy, died at a Maine hospital from her injuries.

Zarnoch was set to start teaching this fall at Central Middle School In Quincy where she had been substitute teaching.

She was a graduate of Framingham State University, who majored in English.

“We’re going to miss her terribly,” said John Zarnoch told WHDH-TV. “She had a bright future and she had suddenly realized her dream to be a teacher here in Quincy. She was well-known and it’s just a terrible thing to happen

The Portland Press Herald reported Lee was charged in 2013 in York County with drunken driving, but that charge was dismissed as part of a plea deal.
