MassBay Observes Moment of Silence for Krystle Campbell
A memorial service for Krystle Campbell and a moment of silence for all affected by the Marathon bombing at MassBay Community College in Wellesley.
A funeral for one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing last week held in Medford yesterday;Β Krystle Campbell was also remembered in Wellesley, as a graduate of MassBay Community College.Β
Campbell graduated from the college in 2005, and was remembered at a memorial entitled "We are Boston."Β Dozens of faculty and staff turned out for a simple ceremony which began with the national anthem, and closed with a signing of "America, The Beautiful."Β
"For those of us who were not her contemporaries at MassBay, we could know her simply by looking at her picture. Krystle's eyes were bright, engaging, caring, intelligent and direct." College president John O'Donnell said, "At MassBay we have lost so much--we have lost Krystle."Β

The college has established a scholarship in her name, per the reqeust of a number of people in the MassBay community, O'Donnell added.Β
Robert Tarutis, a professor of hers who remembered her in his history classes, stood and read a poem by Billy Collins entitled, "The History Teacher." Saying it had been difficult to think of something that would fit the moment, he added that he thought she would have enjoyed the piece.

O'Donnell also said that the college had a memorial book, which will be available at both of the Wellesley and in Framingham campus locations for those who would like to sign them. In roughly two weeks' time, the book will be sent to the Campbell family.Β
As the ceremony wound down, O'Donnell requestedΒ , at the same time as the bombs went off in Boston.
WellesleyΒ College's Guild of Carollineurs also rang their bells in the minutes leading up to 2:50 p.m., and also observed the moment of silence.Β The Guild also played a concert last week in memory of the victims.
