MBTA’s Weekday Heart To Hub Trains Extended to Framingham Station

Because of anticipated ridership, a stop is being added to Framingham station for two weeks.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—The “Heart to Hub” Worcester Line commuter rail service, which typically operates one morning nonstop train from Worcester into Boston and one evening nonstop train from Boston to Worcester, has been extended to include a stop at Framingham Station on weekdays from July 30 through Aug. 10. This extension comes in response to anticipated additional commuter rail ridership during the construction period for MassDOT’s Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement project, the MassDOT said.

On weekdays from through Aug. 10, Worcester Line Train 552 that departs Worcester Station at 8 a.m. will stop at Framingham Station at 8:32 a.m., and Worcester Line Train 551 that departs South Station at 7:35 p.m. will stop at Framingham Station at 8:08 p.m.

Commuters are encouraged to use free parking at the Framingham State College parking lot where the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority provides free shuttle bus service to and from Framingham State College to connect with the morning Framingham stop at8:32 a.m. as well as to all p.m. peak train times.

Customers are also reminded of weekend Positive Train Control work on the Framingham/Worcester Line with free weekend shuttle bus service replacing train service between Framingham and Wellesley Farms, which then connects to Riverside on the Green Line’s D branch. This shuttle service continues during the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement construction period during the weekends of July 28 and 29 and August 4 and 5. Full shuttle bus schedules, including express buses between Framingham and Riverside, are available at www.mbta.com/Worcester.
