Reserved books can now be picked up at the Christa McAuliffe Library branch in Saxonville.

With the main Framingham Library still closed, due to an βelectrical explosionβ on Oct. 17, the Christa McAuliffe Library branch in Saxonville will now be open 7 days a week, including Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Patrons are asked to return library items to the McAuliffe Branch or another library in the Minuteman Library Network, which all Framingham Library patrons can access.
All reserved books and materials are now available for pick up at the McAuliffe Library.

The Framingham Public Library wishes to thank our patrons, our community, and the Town of Framingham for all of the support weβve received and the understanding everyone has shown as we work to restore our main buildingβs operations, said a press release issued on Thursday.
βSince the Libraryβs closure, Main Library staff have been working hard to continue providing services and communication to the library community. Thanks to the generosity of Town Hall employees, library staff have workspace, computers, and access to technology and phone services to help keep us connected and available,β said the press release.
βDespite the challenge, our staff have shown incredible ingenuity, dedication, and passion for their work. The staff and the Town of Framingham have already done great work together to keep providing as many services as we can,β said Library Director Mark Contois. βWhile we donβt yet know when weβll be able to welcome patrons back to the building, we are working to continue programming and provide a number of services in the near future, thanks to support from the Town and our many supporters in the community.β
The library community stepped up to make sure the interruption in service is minimal.
βThe Library Board of Trustees has been kept well-informed throughout this unfortunate occurrence; Iβd like to echo Mark in thanking the Library staff, our patrons, and the Town departments for their help and patience,β said Eric Doherty, Chair of the Board of Library Trustees. βMy predecessor as Chair, Liz Fideler, and our Director, Mark Contois, focused quite a bit on disaster and emergency planning, and I think we are seeing the benefits of that effort now.β
Updates and information are available on our website at www.framinghamlibrary.org and on the libraryβs Facebook and Twitter pages.
