The documentary focuses on educational innovations that work. It shows examples of successful new approaches to student learning, including High Tech High, where the education has been re-imagined to offer an exciting and inspiring hands-on curriculum.

Filmmaker Greg Whiteley spent a year at High Tech High in San Diego, following a couple of ninth grade classes. Open since 2007, the school focuses less on test taking and more on project-based learning and the development of life skills like collaboration, time management and self-confidence. High Tech High teachers are given freedom to teach without the need to follow state-mandated guidelines.
