There are four positions available on the Framingham Historic District Commission. There is one full position for a Realtor and 3 alternate positions for a resident, Framingham History Center and an attorney.

This commission, in conjunction with the Planning Department, oversees 71 properties in the Town’s two historic districts. Its purpose is to preserve and protect the distinctive characteristics of buildings and places significant to the history of the Town, to maintain and improve the settings of those buildings and places and to encourage compatibility with existing buildings when new buildings are planned in the districts.

The commission is comprised of 12 members, 7 of which are full members and are required to be an attorney, an architect, a realtor, a member of the Historical Society, a resident of the districts and two members at large. The remaining five members are alternates and are required to be an attorney, an architect, a realtor, a member of the Historical Society and a resident of the districts.

The Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month, and alternates attend regularly.

Any Framingham resident interested in serving in a position should complete an application by the deadline.
