Rams Lax Open Season With 20-3 Victory

NEW HAVEN, CONN - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2016 season with a 20-3 road victory over Albertus Magnus College in non-conference action at Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn.
In the season opener for both squads, the visiting Rams (1-0) won 19-of-26 draw controls and outshot the Falcons (0-1), 28-9, en route to the victory.
Offensively, sophomore midfielder Kimmy Foley paced the FSU attack with four goals and three assists, while junior midfielder Kristen Hoggins added four tallies and two helpers. Junior attack Claryssa Cunniff added three markers and classmate Lindsay Nixon added a goal and three assists for Framingham State.
Ram sophomore Mallory Fredericks won a game-high seven draw controls and Foley added five for the guests. For the Falcons, Montano, Jassil and Sarr all registered two draw controls apiece.
Framingham State was a perfect 8-of-8 on clear attempts, while the hosts were successful on 4-of-14 attempts.
Framingham State opened the scoring less than a minute into play courtesy of a strike from Foley.

Two minutes later, Montano took the ball coast-to-coast and potted her first of the spring to knot the game at one. Over the next 12 minutes, the visitors responded with an 8-0 spurt capped by a Hoggins tally to build a 9-1 edge.
In net, AMC freshman Lexie Fenn turned aside four shots in a losing effort.
On the opposite end, senior Alysha Cericola turned aside three shots during the first half to earn the win for Framingham State. Freshman Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath made one save in relief of Cericola during the second half.
