SLIDESHOW: Framingham Flies Past Natick for 10th Win Of Season

Tuesday was the final home meet for seniors on the Framingham High swim and dive team.

Seniors and two sensational sophomores led the Framingham High swim & dive team to its 10th win of the season Tuesday.

Framingham hosted Natick in its final home meet of the season.

The Flyers defeated the Redhawks 98-86, to go 10-3-1.

Sophomore Kara McCurdy won both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events, in state qualifying times.

Senior Anna Parra won the 100-yard butterfly event for Framingham. Seniors Haley McCurdy and Aja Matzker finished third and fourth for the Flyers in the fly.

Editor’s Note: In a swim meet, the top 5 swimmers and the top 3 relay teams earned points for a team.

Matzker won the 100-yard backstroke event for Framingham. Sophomore Olivia Nelson finished in third place and junior Shelby Weeks fifth for the Flyers.

Sophomore Halia Bower won the diving event. Framingham swept the diving competition, with senior Elana Jacob finishing second and sophomore Catherine Turner taking third place.

Seniors Emily Osborne and Devon Dive went 1-2 for Framingham in the 100-yard freestyle. Junior Katherine Castro finished fourth.

Framingham captured first and third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Isabella Tersoni, Haley McCurdy, Osborne and Kara McCurdy won the relay event. The relay team of Tice, Castro, Mary Zschau and senior Rebecca Fintonis finished third.

The Flyers finished second and third in the medley relay, to start the meet. Matzker, Osborne, Parra, and Castro finished second for Framingham. Nelson, Alessandra Miranda, Haley McCurdy and Tersoni finished third for Framingham.

In the final event of the meet, the 400-yard freestyle, seniors Rachel Buck, Fintonis, Matzker and Tice took second place for Framingham.

In the 200-yard individual medley event, seniors Haley McCurdy and Burkett finished in second and fifth place to earn points for the Flyers.

In the sprint event, the 50-yard freestyle, Tersoni finished in second for the Flyers with Osborne taking third place.

The Flyers took third, fourth and fifth in the 100-yeard breaststroke. Senior Stefanie Evans was fifth with sophomore Lizzy Tallino fourth, and Alessandra Miranda third in third place.

Sophomore Julia Long finished in fourth place in the 500 yard event and fifth in the 200-yard event to earn points for the Flyers.

Framingham’s last regular season meet is Thursday against Marshfield High.

Tuesday was the final meet of the season for the seniors -- Rachel Buck, Natalie Burkett, Stefanie Evans, Rebecca Fintonis, Katherine Hauck, Elena Jacob, Aja Matzker, Haley McCurdy, Emily Osborne, Anna Parra, and Devon Tice.

The Bay State Conference meet is Sunday, November 8, with sectionals on November 14 at MIT and the state meet at Harvard on November 22.
