The Paper Store in Shoppers World hosted a book signing with 3-time Cy Young Award former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez Thursday.

Martinez, whose new book Pedro was released Tuesday, was scheduled to conduct a 2-hour book signing at the Framingham store from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Paper Store said the line would not form before 6 p.m., but Richard Gaskell from Lincoln, Rhode Island said he was the first in line at 4 p.m. By 5:20 p.m. the line was more than 100 people long. By 6 p.m., the line wrapped around the building almost to the John Harvard’s patio.

Martinez, who will enter the Baseball Hall of Fame, signed hundreds upon hundreds of books.

The most popular questions asked of him was if he would be the Red Sox’s new pitching coach.

He told everyone who asked the job was not for him.
