State Department Issues Worldwide Travel Alert Thanksgiving Week
Are you planning to travel between now and February? Here's what you need to know.

The U.S. State Department has issued a “worldwide travel alert” for American citizens traveling both domestically and abroad.
The alert was issued to warn citizens to be aware of “possible risks of travel due to increased terrorist threats.”

Current information, according to the alert, suggests that the Islamic State, al Qaida, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups “continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions” and “may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests.”
The terrorists have made plans to attack sporting events, theatres, open markets, and aviation services, and citizens should exercise caution this holiday season and at holiday festivals or events. .

“U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation,” according to the alert. “ Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowed places.”
