Associate Principal Elyse Torbert, who has been serving as interim principal, since January, will continue in that position said Scott.
Scott said in the ”coming weeks” he plans to talk with stakeholders, including parents and teachers, on how to replace Goldberg.
Two possible options:
- Appoint Torbert as the new principal
- Conduct a search for a new principal.
Torbert, had been a vice principal at Framingham High, until she applied for the Framingham High principal post, after Michael Welch announced he was leaving to become the superintendent of the Dedham Public Schools.
Torbert and Goldberg were named finalists by Scott in June 2014.
Torbert was named to the newly-created position of Associate Principal at Framingham High in August 2014.
In January, when Goldberg was still on medical leave, Scott hired former Newton Superintendent of Schools Irwin Blumer to be a mentor to Torbert. Goldberg, was not given a paid mentor by the Framingham Public Schools.
In late January, Framingham high educators demanded more information on Goldberg’s leave.
Goldberg made a public statement on his medical leave in January, in which he indicated he would be back at Framingham High in March. Instead, last week, he tendered his resignation.
Goldberg lives in Framingham. His wife is employed by the Framingham Public Schools at Cameron Middle.
