The Town of Framingham and RCN Unveil New HD Channel

The Town of Framingham Government Channel and RCN Boston launched a high definition (HD) channel in Framingham to provide high quality coverage of municipal meetings.

The HD channel is 613 on RCN, specifically for the use of the Town of Framingham. The Government Channel broadcasts live coverage of theFramingham Board of Selectmen and Planning Board meetings, Town Meetings, and other special events when those meetings are not taking place such as the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Veterans Day Observance and the Dennison Exhibition.

“The Town of Framingham Government Channel strives to enhance the participation of Framingham residents in municipal government and the new HD channel is just one example of our desire to improve service delivery to our residents,” said Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin. “We thank RCN for its support in improving the viewing experience on the Town of Framingham Government Channel with the new high definition cable channel specifically dedicated to the Town.”

RCN provides Framingham with broadband services delivering all-digital and high definition video, high-speed internet and premium phone services to residential and small-medium business customers.

RCN’s launch of the new HD channel for the Town of Framingham Government Channel is another step toward providing its customers with the very best in cutting-edge technology and services.

And now, with the new HD Channel, the technical quality of the programming will be better than ever.”

The mission of the Town of Framingham Government Channel is to make local Framingham government more accessible to all residents. The Government Channel provides live gavel-to-gavel coverage of Board of Selectmen, Planning Board and Town Meetings. In addition, when those boards are not meeting, the Government Channel provides coverage of a variety of public affairs events.
