A band comprised of adults with visible and invisible disabilities performed for third, fourth and fifth grade students at Barbieri Elementary School Friday afternoon.

The band travelled from upstate New York to Framingham for the performance on a custom tour bus.

The band has released 5 CDs, the latest celebrating their 10th Anniversary called Still Burning.

The band’s goal is to “change the world by inspiring people through music.”

Through their performances they show the public that individuals with disabilities can play music and perform - and accomplish anything they set out to do.

The band’s lead singer Michelle King is autistic, but you would never know it from her bubbly personality on stage. She is also the band’s guitarist.

The band’s drummer is blind. David LaGrange learned to play the drums at age 14 with the New York School for the Blind.

The band’s base guitar player is confined to a wheelchair. Nick Robinson was a paramedic, before an illness left his legs paralyzed in the 1990’s.

The seven-member band performed for about an hour Friday afternoon, June 19.

The Barbieri performance was made possibly by grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and a Framingham Education Foundation, said Kim Mills, a Barbieri parent who helped organize the event.
