Next up for the FYFC grade 7 team is Weymouth at home on Sunday at Framingham State's Maple Street Field.

Chilly air and Football are two things that seamlessly go together. On a blustery October Sunday Morning, the Wellesley Raiders came to Framingham State University to face the Flyers. The crowd was eager to watch some action-packed football to start their days.

The Flyers began the game by trying to move the ball with rushes by Akye Boston, Jamar Williams, and Dante Marino. However, they turned the ball over on downs in Wellesley territory and gave the Raiders an opportunity to score. Marino had a touchdown saving tackle on Wellesley’s first play, but the Raiders had a long touchdown run a few plays later.

In the middle of the 2nd quarter, another touchdown run increased Wellesley’s lead to 16-0.

After Wellesley scored a third touchdown which made the score 24-0, Heriberto Lopez created a spark of hope by returning the next kickoff to the Raider 40-yard line. Despite their great field position, Framingham eventually turned over the ball on downs. A 57-yard touchdown pass was Wellesley’s final touchdown of the half and the score was now 32-0.

Instead of losing energy and giving up, Framingham still played with some pride and passion in the 2nd half. Tackles by Shawn Ashe and Dante Marino forced Wellesley to punt on their first set of plays in the half.

Sadly, Framingham’s offense couldn’t score in the second half and fell 40-0.

Next week, Weymouth makes the long journey over to Framingham for a Sunday filled with action and excitement. Make sure to come out and support the hard working Flyers next Sunday at the Framingham State University football field!
