Western Connecticut State Defeats Framingham on Senior Day

The Framingham State field hockey team returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when they travel to Mount Ida for a non-conference matchup.

The Framingham State field hockey team fell by a score of 5-2 to Western Connecticut State in Little East Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Framingham.

With the win the Colonials move to 7-9 and 4-6 in league play.

The Rams slip to 3-12 and 2-8 in the conference.

Prior to the contest the Rams honored the four Framingham State seniors playing in their final season; seniors Emily Colcord,, Samantha Pajer,Cady Kelly & Rosemary Talbot.

The Colonials jumped out to an early advantage just over six minutes into the contest when Greta McConnell sent a one-time shot into the cage with an assist from Jenny Cappello Western struck again just over three minutes later when Kristy Matasavage scored off a rebound from a shot by Cappello.

The Colonials extended their advantage to 3-0 when Tatum Seaver collected a rebound and sent it home with an assist was credited to McConnell.

The Rams got on the board in the final minute of the first stanza when Pajer redirected a long strike from Bailey Donelly, a Framingham High graduate, to enter the half down 3-1.

The Colonials answered back early in the second frame when Mastavage scored her second of the game with an assist coming from Erika Wixted.

The Rams answered back again when sophomore Amie Souza redirected a long pass from senior Cady Kelly into the back of the cage.

Western scored the final goal of the contest in the 63rd minute when Cappello scored off a long strike from the top of the arc through traffic.

Senior Rosemary Talbot made 6 saves in net for the Rams while her counterpart Kristy Trotta also made 6 stops in the contest.
